💡 Webinar: Doing Business in Kenya
On April 29, the Israel-Africa Relations Institute, in collaboration with the Israel-Kenya Business Forum, hosted a professional webinar. Out of 436 registrants, 136 participants joined the live session, which addressed key developments in Kenya's evolving business landscape. As Nairobi positions itself as the "Silicon Savannah," cooperation with Israel serves as a vital bridge for knowledge and technology transfer, aimed at improving the lives of millions in the region.

Israel-Africa Relations Update:
  • 1. Ghana: Israel’s Ambassador to Ghana, Roey Gilad, was interviewed by a major national media outlet, sharing insights on the strengthening of bilateral ties.

2. Tanzania: Ambassador Gideon Behar presented his credentials to the President of Tanzania, discussing the deepening of cooperation across various sectors.

3. World Bank Webinar: The Israel Export Institute and the Ministry of Finance will hold a unique webinar the day after tomorrow (May 6) regarding World Bank operations in Africa and opportunities for Israeli companies.

🌍 Continental News:
1️⃣ Mali: A coordinated attack across the country by Tuareg separatists and the JNIM organization (Al-Qaeda) targeted multiple locations;
the Minister of Defense was reportedly killed.
2️⃣ Nigeria: ISIS claimed responsibility for a deadly terror attack in Nigeria, resulting in at least 29 fatalities.
3️⃣ Ethiopia: The China–Africa Entrepreneurs Summit opened for the first time in Addis Ababa.
4️⃣ Chad: Clashes over water access in Chad have claimed the lives of at least 42 people.
5️⃣ Somaliland: The tenure of Parliament and local councils has been extended from July 2026 to October 2028.
6️⃣ Military Exercise: "African Lion 24" has commenced, the largest exercise conducted by AFRICOM. Yesterday (May 3), it was reported
that two American crew members are missing; search efforts remain ongoing.
7️⃣ Sudan: An arms deal between Pakistan and the Sudanese government has been frozen following Saudi pressure.
8️⃣ DRC: The Democratic Republic of the Congo is establishing a semi-military guard to secure its mining sector.
9️⃣ Technology: Google announced the launch of its 10th accelerator cycle, with 15 startups selected from across Africa.
